"Precious" swept the Film Independent Spirit Awards Friday night at a ceremony where "Avatar" and "The Hurt Locker" were nowhere to be found.
James Cameron's sci-fi spectacle obviously didn't qualify, due to its stratospheric budget, and "Hurt Locker" was in contention a year ago.
The 25th anniversary show, hosted by Eddie Izzard, moved from Santa Monica Beach to downtown Los Angeles this year.
And the winners were:
Best feature: "Precious."
Best first feature: "Crazy Heart."
Best female lead: Gabourey Sidibe, "Precious."
Best male lead: Jeff Bridges, "Crazy Heart."
Best supporting female: Mo'Nique, "Precious."
Best supporting male: Woody Harrelson, "The Messenger."
Best director: Lee Daniels, "Precious."
Best foreign film: "An Education."
Best documentary: "Anvil! The Story of Anvil!"

Acura Someone to Watch Award: Kyle Patrick Alvarez, "Easier With Practice."
Chaz and Roger Ebert Truer Than Fiction Award (new this year): Bill Ross and Turner Ross, "45365.
"Adventureland," the Greg Mottola movie filmed at Kennywood Park and elsewhere in Pittsburgh, lost the screenplay honor to the unconventional romcom "(500) Days of Summer."
